The Catholic Worker Farm takes its inspiration from the International Catholic Worker (CW) movement founded by Dorothy Day in New York in the 1930’s. The Catholic Worker seeks to live out Catholic social teaching through practising the Works of Mercy. The CW Farm and Mary House provisionally accommodates 21 individuals who have battled through horrific circumstances to reach the peace and safety which this CW community can provide. We are helped in our work by Volunteers and Interns.
The CW Farm and Mary House provide:
(a)A safe warm bed
(b)Access to showers, clothes, washing and cooking facilities
(c)Help with acquiring solicitors and medical care
(d)English lessons, Citizenship Classes and Psychotherapy
(e)Support with finding voluntary work
(f)Supportive, loving environment within which the guests can recover and work towards self-sufficiency.
